Hawkeye Shuttle

Hawkeye Community College provides free shuttle service for currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff who wish to travel to and from the college's Main Campus, Hawkeye Towers apartments, the Van G. Miller Adult Learning Center, Crossroads shopping area, and other approved locations.

Shuttle service use privileges are subject to revocation for non-compliance of Hawkeye Shuttle Passenger Rules, unsafe acts, or for violations of the Hawkeye student code of conduct.

Hawkeye Shuttle Passenger Rules

All persons using the shuttle service must adhere to the following rules:

  • All occupants must show a valid Hawkeye photo-student ID.

  • Children and/or non-students are not permitted to ride the shuttles.

  • All occupants must remain seated while the vehicle is in motion.

  • Actions that disturb the normal operations of the shuttle service and/or interfere with the rights of other riders are prohibited.

  • No smoking, eating, or drinking.

  • Ear phones are required for use of personal music and/or video devices.

  • Practice cell phone courtesy by setting tones to vibrate, using an inside voice, and avoiding two-way talk.

  • No pets (this does not include service animals assisting persons with disabilities).

  • No unauthorized stops.

Hawkeye Shuttle Operating Guidelines

  • The maximum number of passengers shall not exceed seating capacity.

  • Seating will come on a first come, first serve basis; this includes necessary equipment and service animals accompanying persons with disabilities.

  • The shuttle will depart once it reaches capacity or when there are no additional visible passengers waiting.

  • All shuttle schedules are approximate times and are subject to change based on administrative review.

  • The shuttle driver has full authority to address problems that may occur while persons are boarding, on board, or exiting the shuttle. This includes the right to refuse travel to any person who does not comply with the shuttle rules or who is deemed a risk to safety.

Monday – Friday 3:00–7:00pm

If campus is closed, the Hawkeye Shuttle is also closed. This includes weather-related closings. See the Academic Calendar for scheduled college closings.

Bus Service

Metropolitan Transit Authority, Met Transit, provides bus service to and from Hawkeye. Route 10 HCC (Gold) bus stops are located in front of Black Hawk Hall (HCC front) and at the Library (HCC back). See Route 10 HCC (Gold) schedule for route stops and times.

Printed maps are available in the Brock Student Center and in the Hawkeye Center near the information desk.

  • $0.75 one-way (with valid student ID)
  • $45.00 30-day pass for unlimited rides on fixed-route services for 30 days from the first use. Passes can be purchased from the drivers or at the Met Transit Office.

Riders must have exact change or 30-day pass ready when boarding.

Wheelchair Accessible Transportation

Wheelchair accessible transportation is offered through ParaTransit, a public service through Met Transit. Students must meet eligibility requirements including advanced notice and proof of disability established by the Americans with Disabilities Act.

ParaTransit Hours of Operation: Monday – Friday, 5:45am – 6:45pm. Saturday, 6:30am – 5:45pm.

Cost: Free during Hawkeye Shuttle hours for those meeting eligibility requirements.

Taxi Services

Uber is an easy way to get around and is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Request a ride on demand or make a reservation and a driver will come to you. Sign up for a ride, view wait times, and estimated fares before booking your ride with the Uber mobile app available for Android, Apple, and other smart devices.


Hawkeye offers a Bike Share Program. Students can check out a bicycle for FREE for up to seven days at the Student Life Desk in the Brock Student Center. Students must fill out a membership and wavier form. Upon checkout, students will be given a key to lock up the bike and a helmet for use while renting the bike.
